Jenn Davis – Muirpark Cottage – Edinburgh
Project background
- 3 bedroom – detached bungalow
- Current heating LPG boiler
- Objectives: to minimise disruption and reduce monthly outgoings
- Vaillant areTHERM Plus 12kW ASHP
- Installed as per space heating & hot water demand
- Solar compatible
Annual fuel saving (vs oil)
£1,310
Total fuel saving (over 7 years)
£9,080
RHI cash back (over 7 years)*
£9,100
Annual carbon saving
5.5 tons per year
*RHI cash back is estimated on heating and hot water usage
A heat exchanger module, as well as a buffer tank should be installed alongside the ASHP. Any radiator should also be replaced to ensure the homeowner can maximise on benefits.
The heat pump paired with the intelligent control ensures that maximum efficiency is achieved.
When Muirpark Cottage, a three bedroom cottage in Tranent was in need of a heating upgrade, we were on hand to offer a green solution. The oil boiler that was originally in place in the home was proving to be costly and inefficient. It created extremely high monthly fuel bills for the homeowner.
In a bid to update the system, and as heat pump specialists we suggested a Vaillant aroTHERM plus 12Kw air source heat pump to reduce the home’s fuel consumption and energy bills.
The installation of the Vaillant ASHP system is predicted to result in significant fuel savings for the owner, lowering monthly energy bills by around £1,410 each year. This system will also bring in an estimated annual income of £1,300 or £9,100 over seven years under the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI).
The efficiency of the new system will help reduce carbon emissions, providing a total carbon saving of 5.5 tons per year when compared to the previous oil boiler system – the equivalent of driving 15,000 miles in a 2.0L turbo diesel car!
The heat pump paired with the intelligent control ensures maximum efficiency is achieved. The triVAL system provides further efficiency by maximising renewable energy usage – and in this case, air.
Head of Eco & Renewables at Saltire FM Ltd, Aaron Walker commented “Vaillant is always a top choice for us when it comes to renewable technology, and the aroTHERM air source heat pump seems the natural choice for this property. The advice Vaillant offers to installers throughout the installation process is excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to specify one of the company’s products in future.”
