If your smoke alarm doesn’t meet Government standards

DID YOU KNOW THAT EVERY HOME IN SCOTLAND MUST HAVE INTERLINKED HOME FIRE ALARMS?

The Scottish Government introduced legislation in 2022 which means that every home must now be protected by interlinked fire alarms. Whether you’re a landlord or a homeowner, you should take action now, as it is the property owner’s responsibility to meet the new standards. If your home doesn’t meet the Government guidelines and there is a fire, it would invalidate any insurance cover.

What each home needs:

– One smoke alarm in the living room or room you use most
– One smoke alarm in every hallway and landing
– One heat alarm in the kitchen

An EICR must always be carried out by qualified and registered electricians to ensure the validity of the report.
